There are two types of photoreceptor cells namely Rods and Cones.

1. Cones are concentrated in centre of retina, contains photopigment called iodopsin. Cones responsible for daylight (photopic) vision and color vision

2. Rods are evenly distributed all over retina, contains photopigment called rhodopsin or visual purple, which contain a derivative of Vitamin-A. Rods responsible for twilight (scotopic) vision
