Benzaldehyde ( $C_{6} H_{5} C H O$ ) on treatment with 50% aq. $N a O H$ yields the corresponding alcohol and acid as it does not contains an alpha hydrogen atom.

The reaction is called cannizzaro reaction.

On the other hand, $C H_{3} C H_{2} C H_{2} C H O$ , $C H_{3} C O C H_{3}$ and $C_{6} H_{5} C H_{2} C H O$ contain alpha hydrogen atom.
