In adult vertebrate, notochord is replaced by bony or cartilaginous vertebral column. In adult vertebrate, nerve cord is represented by central nervous system. Pharyngeal gill slits occur during embryo stage in all vertebrates, but disappear in adults. However in some fishes and amphibians, gill slits occur in adults also.
