The left ventricle has a thicker muscular wall than the right ventricle.This is due to the higher forces needed to pump blood through the systemic circuit (around the body) compared to the pulmonary circuit.
In the systemic circulation, the left ventricle pumps oxygen-rich blood into the main artery (aorta). The blood travels from the main artery to larger and smaller arteries and into the capillary network. This blood is supplied to all parts of the body.
Deoxygenated blood from right ventricle is transported into lungs for oxygenation.
