Lysosomes:

  1. Lysosomes are called digestive bags.
  2. It is produced by the Golgi apparatus and present in eukaryotic cells.

Reasons why they are called Digestive bags

  1. It contains hydrolytic enzymes such as proteases, lipases, etc which helps in the digestion of food so-termed as digestive bags.
  2. It is also known as a suicidal bag because it helps in the processing of nutrients.
  3. These are the smallest membrane-bound vesicles and are absent in RBCs, and prokaryotes.
  4. In WBCs, liver cells and Kupffer cell abundance of lysosomes are present.
