Solution

The correct option is E Mitochondria
A. Cell membrane is also known as plasmalemma or plasma membrane. All living cells are covered by a thin, delicate, elastic and selectively permeable living boundary called as cell membrane. It performs various functions like transport of various substances across it, secretion, hormone reception etc.
B. Nucleus a double membrane bound dense protoplasmic body which controls all cellular metabolism and encloses the genetic information of the cell. It is considered as the controller or director of the cell.
C. Lysosomes are the single membrane bound structures which contain hydrolytic enzymes in them. Due to the presence of hydrolytic enzymes, these are called as the suicidal bags of the cell.
D. Mitochondrion are called the power house of the cell because these are associated with the cellular respiration and energy generation of the cell i.e. they produce ATP.
E. Vacuoles are present only in plant cells. About 90% of plant cells is occupied by a single membrane bound vacuole. They store macromolecules including ions, amino acids, sugars, carbohydrates, proteins. The membrane surrounding the vacuole is called tonoplast.
So, the correct answer is 'Mitochondria'.
