Question

Which out of distilled water and tap water is better conductor of electricity?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Tap water contains many water-soluble salts in it, which dissociate in water to produce ions.
  2. Ions contain charges which help in the conduction of electricity as the movement of charges causes an electric current.
  3. On the other hand, distilled water does not contain salts due to which it is not a good conductor of electricity.

Therefore, tap water is a better conductor of electricity.
