Change of any state of water into another by changing the temperature is called the interchangeability of the three states of water.
When ice melts, heat is absorbed.
When water changes into water vapours, heat is absorbed.
When water vapour is condensed to water, heat is given out.
When water is solidified to ice, heat is released.
Therefore, heat (or latent heat) plays a very important role to change the state of water.
