Which part of an atom was discovered by Rutherford?

Open in App
Solution

Rutherford passed few alpha particles through the gold foil. He observed that few rays deflected at some angle. And few passed through them. And 1 out of 120 rays deflected at 180 degrees. So he concluded that there are some positively charged particles in the centre of the nucleus and he named it as protons.
