The sub-region of Uttar Pradesh, within the larger Bhojpuri region, is called the Purvanchal. The Purvanchal Range comprises the eastern end of Uttar Pradesh.

The two important features of the Purvanchal are:

  • This range runs along with the North-Eastern states of India including, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram.
  • This range is covered with sedimentary rock, thick forests and consists of parallel ranges and valleys. The Purvanchal Range comprises the Manipur hills, Mizo hills, Naga hills and Patkai hills.
