Which part of our body helps us in maintaining body balance?
The inner ear contains a complex system called the vestibular apparatus, located above the cochlea. This apparatus is responsible for maintaining balance in the body. The vestibular apparatus is composed of three semi-circular canals and the otolith organ consists of the saccule and utricle. Each semi-circular canal lies in a different plane at right angles to each other. Crista and macula are the sensory spots of the vestibular apparatus controlling dynamic equilibrium.
