Solution

The correct option is A Leaves
The lid of the pitcher is derived from the leaf. These pitchers are special modifications of the leaf in plants which grow in nitrogen deficient soils. In order to fulfill their nitrogen requirements (for growth and development) they trap the insects and other organisms which serve as nitrogen sources. The pitchers help in trapping them, closure of the lid of the pitchers serve two purposes:
1. to keep the captured organism trapped,
2. to make sure the digestive fluids in the pitcher are not diluted in the event of rain.
