The gynoecium has three parts: a stigma at the top where the pollen lands; a style and an ovary. The ovary contains ovules which contain the female gametes. After fertilisation, ovary enlarges considerably in size and becomes the fruit. The ovule gets transformed into a seed with zygote in it.
