Which part of the plant is affected by SO2 pollution?
Chloroplast
Sulfur dioxide SO2 is a gas primarily emitted from fossil fuel combustion at power plants and other industrial facilities, as well as fuel combustion in mobile sources such as locomotives, ships, and other equipment. Excess SO2 settles on the trees. It is then absorbed by leaves of the plants and is translocated to other parts. It decreases the photosynthesis rate of the chloroplast.
