Meiosis

  1. Meiosis is a process where a single cell divides twice to produce four cells containing half the original amount of genetic information.
  2. These cells are our sex cells – sperm in males, and eggs in females. During meiosis, one cell divides twice to form four daughter cells.

Stages of meiosis

  1. Prophase I, Metaphase I, Anaphase I, Telophase I, Prophase II, Metaphase II, Anaphase II, Telophase II
  2. Meiosis ends at Telophase II.
