Question

Which physical quantity has unit Vm is it scalar or vector

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Electric Flux is defined as, Φ = Electric Field x Area through which Electric Field lines passes.

i.e. ϕ = E.A

Where, unit of E = V/m

And, unit of A = m^2

Hence, Electric Flux = (V/m) x (m^2) = Vm

As it is a dot product, so electric flux is a scalar quantity.
