Solution

Dwarf planet:

  1. The celestial bodies that are too tiny to be classified as planets but too huge to be classified as stars are called dwarf planets.
  2. Pluto was previously classed as a planet from 1930 until 2006 before being redesignated as a dwarf planet.
  3. Pluto had always been an exception. Pluto's orbit appeared unusual in that it was sometimes nearer to the sun than Neptune.
  4. Things became clear in 2003, even before astronomer Michael Brown found Eris, a similar-sized planet to Pluto in such an outer area of the solar system.
  5. The International Astronomical Union established the title "dwarf planet" in 2006 and assigned it to both Pluto and Eris.

Therefore, Pluto is known as a dwarf planet.
