Solution

The correct option is A All cells come from pre-existing cells
The cell theory was first put forth by Schleiden (1804-1881) and Schwann (1810-1882) announced that all plants and animals are composed of cells.

Likewise, Rudolf Virchow proposed another very important tenet of cell theory - "celsl arise from pre-existing cells".

In healthcare, it is important to prevent the patient from being infected with dangerous microorganisms. The patient can be infected with microbes when their wounds come in contact with the microbes either in their environment, like the bed, table or instruments that are used in their treatment, like surgical blades, catheters, bandages, etc. These microbes can enter the body and multiply because of the cell theory tenet "Cells arise from pre-existing cells".

Sterilization or disinfection is a procedure to kill the microorganisms using various methods. And by killing the microbe before it can enter the patient and multiply, the patient can be saved from an infection. This further prevents us from the disease causing microorganism.

UV irradiation, steam or dry heat, alcohol are used to kill microorganisms. And hence can be used for sterilization or disinfection.
