The cockroach has mainly three parts in its body. They are head, thorax, and abdomen. The body of cockroach is covered by chitinous exoskeleton which gives support and protection to it. The exoskeleton is hard and will not allow expansion of the body. That’s why cockroach shedding its exoskeleton periodically. This process is called ecdysis. Because this is the only way that nymphs (immature ones) can grow as full adults.
