Manas Wildlife Sanctuary

Manas Wildlife Sanctuary also known as Kamrup Sanctuary is situated in the the State of Assam. It was established in the year 1928 and was listed as UNESCO World Heritage site in the year 1985. In 1992 the sanctuary was included in the List of World Heritage in Danger because of the grave harm caused to the ecosystem because of the civil unrest. However, in 2011 the sanctuary was recovering well past the damaged inflicted by the ethnic unrest, it was delisted. The 'danger' tag was removed after 19 years.
