Question

State which of the following situations are possible and give an example for each of these: (a) an object with a constant acceleration but with zero velocity. (b) an object moving in a certain direction with acceleration in the perpendicular direction.

Solution

In the case of statement (a):

  1. The term acceleration signifies a change in the velocity of an item.
  2. Vertical particle projection is one illustration of this. Whenever an object is hurled upwards, the body's greatest height velocity is zero, however, the continuous acceleration due to gravity continues to operate.

In the case of statement (b):

  1. In the case of circular motion, the item might move along a certain route with such a perpendicular acceleration.
  2. Whenever an item moves in a circular pattern, its path follows the circle tangent, although its centripetal acceleration has been directed toward the circle radius. We see and even with the radius, a tangent still forms a straight angle. When an item moves in a circular motion, the velocity and accelerations are mutually perpendicular.
