Which soil is best for the production of jute

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
Alluvial sandy loam soils are best suited for the production of jute. Laterite and gravel soils are not suitable for this crop. The new grey alluvial soils of good depth, receiving silt from the annual floods are the best for the jute cultivation as it is the most fertile soil. Capsularis jute, a type of jute can grow even in standing water especially towards the latter part of its growth.
