Solid waste comprises all the waste arising from human and animal activities and is ordinarily solid discarded as useless and unwanted.
It is critical to note that the definition of solid waste is not limited to wastes that are physically rigid.
Many solid wastes are liquid, semi-solid, or contain gaseous material.

Waste generated in the home: fruit, vegetable peels, garden waste, fallen leaves and branches of plants, clippings, furniture, clothing, bottles, newspapers, appliances, paint, batteries etc.
