Dear Student,
The convention of pass or doctrine of lapse was an extension strategy applied by the British East India Company in India until 1859. The last replaced the since quite a while ago settled right of an Indian sovereign without a beneficiary to pick a replacement. Also, the British chose whether potential rulers were sufficiently skilled.
Mysore state didn't have a 'characteristic beneficiary' and it was not added under the 'doctrine of lapse' by the 'East India Company'.
Regards.
