Solution

The correct options are
A

It decreases the energy of system

B

The hybridization of atoms do not change due to resonance.

C

Resonance hybrid is more stable than any resonating structure.

D

Resonating structures cannot be isolated at any temperature.

Resonance is a way of explaining delocalized electrons of a molecule or a polyatomic ion where the bonding cannot be adequately explained by using just a single Lewis structure. The following are common observations:

1. Delocalization of electrons lowers the potential energy of the molecule and thus the resonance hybrid has a lower energy than any of the contributing or canonical structures.

2. In general, only the electrons in a pure (unhybridized) orbital (like a pure p orbital) or a πbond are involved in resonance, there is no overall change in the hybridization of the atoms. This is not strictly true because sometimes even sigma bonds may be shown to be in resonance - like in diborane's 3c2e banana bonds. Hyperconjugation may also be considered to a different form of resonance.

3. The hybrid, by definition, is more stable than any one of the contributing structures.

4. None of the contributing structures is usually isolable. They generally do not exist in reality and are not transient states of the molecule.
