Non-porous wood is present in gymnosperms such as Pinus and porous wood is present in angiosperms. Gymnosperms wood is non-porous because it lacks vessels.

A cortex is an outer layer of a stem or root in a planet, lying below the epidermis but outside the vascular bundles. The cortex is composed mostly of large thin-walled parenchyma cells but the outer hypodermis of the cortex region consists of a few layers of collenchyma or sclerenchyma cells.

Passage cells are found in endodermis of monocot roots. Orchids are monocot plants. Hence, passage cells are found in endodermis of orchid roots.
