Solution

The correct options are
A Antifreeze mixture of CaCl2+water(f.pt.50oC) is preferred ove KCl+water(f.pt.10oC)
B The low f.pt. of CaCl2+ water is due to the formation of CaCl26H2O at low temperature
C The use of antifreeze for salt solutions causes major problems of corrosion of steel car bodies and reinforcement bars in concrete road structures
D More is the mass of salt spreaded on road, easier is melting of ice
All are facts.
Antifreeze mixtures are use to melt ice or snow on roads. The snow under the top layer is colder, because snow acts like an insulator. So when the top layer is salted, it makes the freezing point drop, but what happens is that the snow a layer below transfers heat from itself to the top layer, making the lower layers colder, to allow the salt to chemically bond with the ice and subsequently melt it. This makes the the temperature colder, re-freezing the top layer. Thus help to remove salt from roads and make to walk.
