The process by which ovum is released from the ovaries is known as ovulation.

Fimbriae:

  1. Ovum is collected by fimbriae after ovulation.
  2. The ovarian ends open up into the abdominal cavity through a funnel-shaped structure having finger-like projections known as fimbriae.
  3. The to and fro movement of the fimbriae helps to direct the ovum into the fallopian tube.
