Solution

The correct option is B Water
Water is the most abundant fraction of a cell. It constitutes 70 to 80 percent of the body of a living being. Water is a colourless, transparent, tasteless and odourless liquid which has a maximum density at 4oC, freezes at 0oC and boils at 100oC. It is made up of tiny polar molecules that can readily pass through cell membranes. Hydrogen bonding allows water to the fluid structure. It has high specific heat, high specific conductivity, a high latent heat of vapourisation, dissociates electrolytes, dissolves a large number of substances, and is incompressible. All these properties are the reason that water has been selected as a solvent of life and it is the most abundant molecule in cell protoplasm.
