Question

Which technique is used to separate anthracite from copper sulphate

Open in App
Solution

anthracite is coal of a hard variety that contains relatively pure carbon and burns with little flame and smoke.

Stir the mixture in water to dissolve the copper sulfate (a salt) and filter to remove the charcoal. Evaporate the water to recover solid coper sulfate.

Rinse the filter with water to remove residual salt from the charcoal. Scrape the charcoal out of the filter to recover it, if desired.
