Copper sulphate solution is obtained when copper sulphate salt is dissolved in water. During electrolysis, the copper sulphate salt (CuSO4) dissociates to give Cu2+ and SO24 ions. Simultaneously, water also undergoes dissociation to give H+ and hydroxide ion OH ions.

Hence, Cu2+ and H+ are the cations released during the dissociation.
