Which type of bacteria can grow in the absence of oxygen
Anaerobic
Bacteria can be anaerobic or aerobic. Aerobic means involving oxygen the bacteria that take up oxygen for their cellular activities, anaerobic bacteria can survive without oxygen. All organisms make energy through cellular respiration, but they do this differently depending on if they are anaerobic or aerobic. Saprophytic bacteria are bacteria that do not develop in the living organism and feed on the waste generated within it. They are opposed to pathogenic bacteria that enter the body and grow within it, leading to infections.
