The correct option is D blue and non-sooty
Alkanes burn in air to produce a lot of heat due to which they are excellent fuels. Methane is a compound of carbon and hydrogen. (ie a hydrocarbon), burn in air with blue, non-sooty flame because the % of carbon in the saturated hydrocarbons is comparatively low which gets oxidized completely by the oxygen present in the air.

Methane + oxygen ------> carbon dioxide and water Option A is correct.
