Polythene and PVC are examples of thermoplastics. Thermoplastics are substances which become soft on heating and harden on cooling. Hence, these substances can be molded into the desired shape when hot and can then be cooled so that they stay in the particular shape.

These are used for manufacturing toys, combs and various types of containers.
