Plastids are found in plants. They are of three types namely, Chromoplast, Chloroplasts and Leucoplasts.
The chromoplasts impart yellow, red and orange colour to the plant parts like petals, fruits etc
Leucoplasts are colourless and store fats, carbohydrates and proteins.
Chloroplasts are green in colour, they primarily contain pigments chlorophyll a and b along with carotenoids. They absorb blue and red light from the visible spectrum and convert it to chemical form, in a series of steps. This process is called photosynthesis. It involves the reduction of CO2 to carbohydrates using H2 from water and energy from sunlight.
