A primary storage device is any storage device or component that can store nonvolatile data in computers, servers and other computing devices. It is used to hold/store data and applications temporarily or for a shorter period of time while the computer is running.
The computer memory is a temporary storage area. It holds the data and instructions that the Central Processing Unit (CPU) needs. Before a program can be run, the program is loaded from some storage medium into the memory.
Memory consists of four types of memory chips RAM, ROM, CMOS and flash. RAM stand for random access memory and ROM stand for read only memory.these are also called primary memory of a computer.
