The correct option is D $x < - 6$
Given, $- 2 x + 5 > 17$
$\Rightarrow - 2 x > 17 - 5 = 12$
$\Rightarrow - x > \frac{12}{2} = 6$
Multiplying both sides by $(- 1)$ , we get
$x < - 6$
