  2. Vitamins act as a catalyst in the generation of energy by utilizing carbohydrates and fats properly.

Vitamins that can be toxic when consumed in excess: Fat-soluble vitamins i.e., Vitamin A

  1. Fat soluble vitamins: Vitamins which are soluble in fat and oils but insoluble in water are kept in this group.
  2. These are vitamins A, D, E and K. They are stored in liver and adipose (fat storing) tissues. Large doses of vitamins A, D, E or K can be toxic and lead to health problems.
