The first rocket which was was sent out into the space was the V2 missile which was first launched by Germany in 1942.
The first rocket which actually launched something into space was used to launch Sputnik, the first satellite, on October 4, 1957 b Russia.The rocket that launched Sputnik was a R-7 ICBM rocket. The satellite was carrying a dog named Laika on board.
Laika survived in space for seven days before being put to sleep before the oxygen supply ran out.

Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first human who was sent into space in satellite, leaving Earth on April 12, 1961, on a Vostok-K rocket. He was from Moscow Russia.
