Which winds are responsible for bringing monsoon in India. Discuss the different brenches of this monsoon wind in detail .

Dear Student,
Following are the winds system:
1. Southwest monsoon wind
2. Northwest monsoon wind

And south-west monsoon wind is the one which takes place in the months of June and July. This wind system is from Madagascar and reaches India through the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. So, it is primarily a sea-to-land wind that brings moisture from the see. It brings rain to entire India expect Tamilnadu, Rajasthan, J&K. It gives the most rainfall. It will get intense over the Ganga plain and north-eastern states.


Following are branches of monsoon winds:

1. The Arabian sea branch
2. Bay of Bengal branch

Arabian sea branch reaches Mumbai in 10 days later that's about 10th of June. And the bay of Bengal branch reaches Assam in the first week of June, And mountains cause the the monsoon winds to get deflected towards the west over Ganga plain.
In mid-June Arabian sea branch arrives in Saurashtra Kuchchh and central part of the country.
And the Arabian sea branch wind and bay of Bengal branch winds merge over the Ganga plains. Delhi generally receives rainfall during 29th of June. By the first week of July the Haryana and Rajasthan experiences monsoon and then by mid-July the monsoon reaches Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country
