Open in App
Solution

Let Ajeet speed be x and Amit speed be y.

They both covered 30 Km and Ajeet takes 2 hrs more than Amit.

Time = fraction numerator d i s tan c e over denominator s p e e d end fraction

So,
time taken by Ajeet will be = 30 over x
time taken by Amit will be = 30 over y

Ajeet takes 2 hrs more than Amit, then

30 over x=30 over y + 2 ------(i)

If Ajeet doubles his speed, Ajeet takes 1 hr less than Amit, so,
fraction numerator 30 over denominator 2 x end fraction=30 over y- 1 ------(ii)

From (i) and (ii)
30 over x - fraction numerator 30 over denominator 2 x end fraction =3

fraction numerator 30 over denominator 2 x end fraction=3

x= 5 Km/hr

y =7.5 Km/hr
