Given:Assuming Least Count(L.C.) of vernier =0.01 cmMain scale reading(M.S.R)=5.2 cm7th vernier division coinciding with main scale markingTherefore Vernier Scale Reading (V.S.R.)=7×L.C. =7×0.01=0.07 cmZero error=+0.03Therefore, length of the instrument = [M.S.R+V.S.R]-Zero error =[5.2+0.07]-0.03 5.24 cm
