The correct option is D Solubility of sulphates
On moving down the group in case of alkaline earth metals, the solubility of sulphates decreases. Thus, beryllium sulphate is highly soluble in water while barium sulphate is practically insoluble. This is because, on going down the group, the decrease in hydration energy is much more than the decrease in lattice energy for sulphates and hence, solubility decreases. However, other properties of this group like atomic size, solubility of hydroxides and thermal stability of carbonates increases down the group.
Hence, option C is the correct answer.
