Dear student,
When leaf peel is mounted temporarily under a microscope then epidermal cells can be seen irregular in shape with pores found on its surface called stoma. Stoma has a pair of guard cell with epidermal cell surrounding it. Guard cells are scattered on the epidermal cell therefore guard cell is much smaller than epidermal cell.
