Silver chloride is soluble in dilute ammonia solution as it forms soluble complex Ag(NH3)2Cl.
AgCl+2NH4OHAg(NH3)2Cl(solublecomplex)+2H2O.
On the other hand, lead chloride is insoluble in dilute ammonia solution.
Thus aqueous ammonia can be used for the separation of silver chloride and lead chloride.
Also lead chloride is soluble in hot water whereas silver chloride is insoluble in hot water.
Hence, hot water can be used for the separation of silver chloride and lead chloride.
