Bacteria:
- Bacterial cell is a primitive prokaryotic cell that does not contain membrane bound nucleus.
- It lacks the cell organelles like mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum etc.
- Its cell wall is made up of mostly peptidoglycan and have flagella for locomotion.
Discovered by: Antonie van Leeuwenhoek discovered bacteria in 1676. He referred to them as dierkens, i.e. small animals or animalcules in English.
