  2. They termed it kinetin, which promotes cytokinesis.
  3. It is an adenine derivative and was isolated from autoclaved herring sperm DNA.
  4. This led to the isolation of zeatin from coconut milk and corn kernels, which showed cytokinin like activity.
  5. Cytokinins are synthesised in the region of rapid cell division.
  6. It induces the formation of new leaves and chloroplast in leaves.
