Open in App
Solution

  1. Both the first and second laws of thermodynamics were established by Rudolf Clausius and William Thomson (Kelvin) in the year 1850.
  2. The second law of thermodynamics as stated by Kelvin Planck: It is not possible to build a heat engine that, when put through a cycle, does nothing except absorb heat from a body and perform an equal amount of labour.
  3. The second law of thermodynamics as stated by Clausius: It is difficult to build a machine that runs in a cycle and produces nothing but a constant flow of heat from one body to another at a greater temperature.
