Solution

Viroids are pathogens which contains no protein coating on circular strands of ribonucleic acid. These affect only plants as they take up the plants machinery and uses it to make new copies of itself. These are smaller than viruses and known to be the smallest injectious pathogens. They cause diseases like potato spindle tuber disease, etc.

viroids were discovered by T.O. Diener for the first time in 1971 on potato spindle tuber.
