  1. Stanley B. Prusiner discovered prions in 1982, for which he received a Nobel prize.
  2. Prion is an infectious protein, which can cause abnormal folding in normal proteins.
  3. They are known to cause neurological disease such as Cr–Jakob disease (CJD) in humans.
